Can I pay my tuition fees in instalments?

No. The course should be paid in full before you commence your study. In certain circumstances we may ask for a deposit to be paid after interview.

Where can I get details of any scholarships?

You should contact your local British Council Office about any scholarships available to students from your country wishing to study in the UK. For further information please refer to the UKCOSA website. On occasion we may also offer scholarships and details may be obtained from our admissions team on request.

What is the required level of English for international students wishing to study?

If your first language is not English you should take the International English Language Test System (IELTS) or its equivalent before you apply. This test demonstrates your ability in English. It is administered by the British Council and is available all over the world. You should take this test in your own country and ensure that your results are sent to the College with your course application.

Do I need a visa or entry clearance to enter the UK to study?

If you are not from the EEA and wish to study in the UK it is advisable to get 'entry clearance' or a visa before you enter the UK. To find out your status (visa national or non visa national) contact the British Embassy of High Commision in the country in which you are living. You can also go to www.ukvisas.gov.uk to obtain a list of diplomatic posts. You should ask for form VAF1. They will tell you what documents they require and you will be charged a small fee for processing your application. You will need:

  • The completed form (VAF1)
  • Your passport
  • 2 recent passport sized photographs
  • The fee paid in local currency (equivalent to £36 per person)
  • A letter from the College confirming your place on a course,the fee and arrangements for payment including any deposits already paid
  • Evidence that you can pay the fees and support yourself

Please note that you must follow a full-time course in order to qualify for a student visa or entry clearance. A full-time course consists of a minimum of 15 hours daytime study per week.

When and how do I renew my visa once I am in the UK?

Our International Officer will be able to help you with this. The form can be downloaded from the Home Office website. You should renew your visa at least 4 weeks before it runs out. You will need:

  • Your last 3 months bank statements (originals not copies)
  • Letter from the College confirming your enrolment
  • Passport and recent passport photo
  • Evidence of attendance at College
  • Police registration document (if applicable)

Can I work whilst in the UK?

Please consult the UKBA website for further information regarding this as the regulations are liable to change. You should always ensure and be able to demonstrate, that you have sufficient funds with which to support yourself for your period of study in the UK.
